Spring Training

Image
I honestly didn’t care one bit about the Super Bowl last night. Congratulations to the Ravens, but to me, the Super Bowl just means the end of the NFL season. More importantly, the end of the NFL season means we can switch out focus to the most important professional sport: baseball ! Spring Training is right around the corner! Pitchers and catchers report for training in 8 days and the remaining players will arrive in Arizona or Florida shortly after the pitchers and catchers! And then baseball season will be in full swing before we know it.   As a Chicago financial advisor , I’ve always been a big fan of Spring Training so I can hardly wait! I find it interesting to watch the teams at the very beginning of the season because then you can see their improvements throughout the season. I know not everyone cares about Spring Training the way I do so who’s as excited as I am for baseball to be underway? Related articles The Week Ahead: Countdown to Spring Training is on Reas

Best Team in the American League?

(Image credit: Getty Images via @daylife ) It's gotta be the pinstripes. They've seen quite a few losses in the past few months, including the loss of Mariano Rivera, CC Sabathia , and most recently Andy Pettitte, but their offensive power and defensive ability shows the depth the Yankees have on their team. I see this downtime for the Yankees as a golden opportunity to test fresh pitchers they haven't gotten to know against some of the best batters in the league. The Yankee's schedule doesn't get much easier in the coming, with long series against Tampa Bay, Baltimore and the LA Angels . They'll certainly be using some of their young pitchers a decent amount during this period, but they also have to opportunity to bring up some potential starts from the minors that have been on the waiting list for quite some time.

Top Team in the MLB

DETROIT, MI - APRIL 07: Prince Fielder #28 of the Detroit Tigers scores after hitting his second home run of the game against the Boston Red Sox in the fifth inning during the game against the Boston Red Sox at Comerica Park on April 7, 2012 in Detroit, Michigan. (Image credit: Getty Images via @daylife ) Now that the season has started and is mid way into March, what teams are surprising you the most? The Angles and the Red Sox no doubt have seen some struggles, but is that a trend that will continue into the coming summer? My take on the Angles is Albert is too good to continue playing the way he has been. Although he may never see the glory days where he was a monster ever again, no one can say he isn't one of the top batters in all of baseball. The Tigers haven't impressed that many so far, but they have some young pitchers coming out of the minors that may take people by surprise, and with Martinez almost certain to come back for playoffs, assuming the make them, the

Sure it may be a little dull and low impact, but nothing is more relaxing than kicking back and watching baseball. Here are a few of my favorite places to catch my baseball news: ESPN - Of course, they have a great fantasy system set up as well. Yahoo Sports - Great insight and news updates. MSN - Do a great series of baseball interviews. Sports Illustrated - They always provide a great list of top teams and players. Always a must read before the start of any season.
